The Graduate
May 2008

The play explores the life of 21-year old Ben Braddock shortly after earning his bachelor's degree and begins with a party at his parents' house to celebrate his graduation. Mrs. Robinson, the wife of his father's business partner, turns up in Benjamin's room and exposes herself to him, offering to have an affair with him. In this scene, known as the "Mrs. Robinson, you are trying to seduce me" scene, Benjamin is initially flustered and shocked but a few days later he calls her and their affair begins. Mr Robinson, unaware of the affair, tries to encourage Benjamin to call on his daughter Elaine. Mrs Robinson, however, forces Ben to promise that he will never date Elaine. Ben's life begins to fall apart. The Graduate was a hit in the West End with actresses including Kathleen Turner, Jerry Hall and Amanda Donahoe taking the lead role of Mrs Robinson.
The Graduate will be directed by Bob Froud whose previous productions at The Arden include Monty Python's Life Of Brian, Dead Funny and most recently Cold Comfort Farm.
The play will be classed as an Adult production

Post Christmas Expansion
Not Waistline
We are delighted to have obtained Planning Permission to construct a 'gallery' dressing room to increase facilities and add to the comfort of our casts. Building work will begin in the new year.
We will also be raising funds to install a new dedicated entrance door, which will allow direct access to the theatre.
